Situated along the beautiful Ottawa River, Canada’s capital city of Ottawa is home to a variety of government institutions, educational experiences and cultural wonders. Delegations travelling to Ottawa can take advantage of the conference location and expand their knowledge and horizons. CANIMUN participants can enhance their educational experience by visiting Parliament the Supreme Court and any number of Ottawa’s many museums. In their down time, they can explore Ottawa’s many recreational and cultural sites, including the Rideau Canal, the world’s longest skating rink or charming and historic Byward Market.
Embassies and Diplomatic Briefings
As Canada’s capital city, Ottawa is the heart of foreign and diplomatic relations in Canada, hosting over 100 high commissions and embassies. CANIMUN delegates have the opportunity to participate in the Embassy Visits Program, in which they are given the chance to visit high commissions and embassies throughout the city. There, they are able to meet and engage with diplomatic officials, learn more about diplomatic affairs and expand their knowledge of international relations. In addition, Global Affairs Canada, the Canadian foreign affairs department, has its head offices in Ottawa. CANIMUN 2017 will host a diplomatic briefing in which delegates can participate in a panel discussion with Canadian diplomatic officials.
